General:

The Olympus BX51RF is an advanced microscope that can be used for fluorescence microscopy. It is equipped with a vertical epi-illuminator containing a lamp, a collector lens and a filter cube set. The filter cube set consists of an emission filter, a dichroic mirror and a barrier filter.

The light is directed through the epi-illuminator into the objective and then onto the specimen. The fluorescent light emitted by the specimen is guided through the objective and the dichroic mirror and then directed through the barrier filter into the eyepiece or camera system.
